Drivability Diagnostics
Level 1 The drivability problem is constant. Labor to perform a Level 1 drivability diagnostic inspection includes; a visual inspection of engine and vehicle, our “complete test” - relative compression test, a primary and secondary ignition inspection, review of base timing, and fuel delivery test. It also includes a review for vacuum leaks, confirmation of EGR operation, battery test, and starting and charging system test. We must perform a minimum of level 1 or 2 before proceeding to Level 3. In addition to the above tests we may perform one or more of the following procedures:
Level 2 The drivability problem can be reproduced consistently during a normal road test or while in service bay. Labor to perform a Level 2 drivability diagnostic inspection includes; A Level 1 Test plus: a complete computer scan and a review of any trouble codes and circuits identified, an out of range sensor test, an output test of oxygen and temperature sensors, throttle and airflow sensor test, a fuel pressure and volume measurement. We must perform a minimum of level 1 or 2 before proceeding to Level 3. Some component failures will require repair or replacement before the remainder of the diagnostics can be completed. In addition to the above tests we may perform one or more of the following procedures:
Level 3 The drivability problem is intermittent, but the client can explain the exact conditions under which it occurs. The symptoms can be reproduced with a high level of consistency by following the client’s instructions. The symptoms can be reproduced by a normal or extended road test or while in the service bay. Labor to perform a Level 3 drivability inspection includes; A minimum of Level 1 or 2 and a review of intermittent abnormalities and of no-fault and code faults. Some component failures will require repair or replacement before the remainder of the diagnostics can be completed. In addition to the above tests we may perform one or more of the following procedures:
Level 4 The drivability problem is intermittent and random or a diagnosis cannot be found in level 1,2 or 3. Being precise with specific conditions or time of occurrence is difficult. The symptoms cannot be reproduced with any consistency. Symptoms may require extensive road testing to reproduce, and the client must be willing to leave the vehicle for a minimum of three days. Labor to perform a Level Four drivability diagnostic inspection includes; an in depth review of intermittent abnormalities and of no-fault codes. Level Four Diagnostics can only be done after Level 1 or 2 & 3 Diagnostics and all discovered problems have been repaired. This level of diagnostics will only apply to vehicles that have some level of computer control. These diagnostics may not uncover intermittent or rare condition related problems. Some component failures will require repair or replacement before the remainder of the diagnostics can be completed. This service may include self-diagnostics or pin-out testing according to individual vehicle characteristics. This does not include exhaustive re-testing for possible intermittent sensor failure. Pricing Level 1 – $89.99 Level 2 - $189.99 Level 3 - $229.99 Level 4 – $329.99 Explanation of Services Drivability problems are the most difficult types of problems to repair on any vehicle.
